AutoCount Sales Commission Plugin — Automated Sales Agent Commission Calculation for AutoCount
AutoCount Sales Commission Plugin is an AutoCount Accounting add-on that automates the calculation of sales commissions for your sales agents, salesmen, and sales representatives. Create commission plans with different calculation methods — by total sales document amount or by individual item — and apply commission rates as flat rates, document-based rates, or tiered entitlement rates. Factor in payment collection speed to determine how much commission is finally earned. Assign personalised commission plans to each sales agent and generate detailed commission reports automatically. Designed for Malaysian SMEs with sales teams that need accurate, transparent, and automated commission management.
Why AutoCount Sales Commission Plugin?
Calculating sales commissions manually in spreadsheets is one of the most error-prone and time-consuming tasks in any sales organisation. Each agent may have different commission rates. Commission might depend on whether the customer has paid. Some items may carry higher commission rates than others. Some agents earn tiered commissions based on monthly or quarterly targets. Managing all of this in Excel — pulling invoice data, checking payment status, applying different rates, handling credit notes — takes hours every month and produces errors that damage trust between management and the sales team. The Sales Commission Plugin automates the entire process. Define the rules once, assign them to agents, and let AutoCount calculate every commission automatically from live sales and payment data.
How Commission Calculation Works
The plugin uses a two-formula approach to determine commission payouts:
Formula 1 — Commission Entitled (How Much Commission Is Generated)
This formula calculates the total commission a sales agent is entitled to based on their sales. Two methods are available:
By Sales Document — Uses the total invoice amount (all items counted) as the commission base. Suitable for businesses where commission is a percentage of the total bill regardless of what was sold.
By Item — Uses each item's subtotal amount as the commission base. Not all items need to be commission-eligible — only items flagged for commission are counted. Suitable for businesses where different product categories carry different commission rates.
Each method offers four commission rate options: Flat Rate (fixed percentage), Sales Document Rate (rate varies by document value), Item Rate (rate varies by item), and Entitlement Rate (tiered rate based on total sales achieved monthly, quarterly, or annually).
Formula 2 — Commission Earned (How Much Commission Is Actually Paid)
This formula determines how much of the entitled commission is finally earned — based on whether the customer has actually paid. Commission can be linked to payment collection: the faster the customer pays, the higher the commission rate. If an invoice is collected within 30 days, the agent earns 100% of the entitled commission. If collected in 60 days, perhaps 80%. If collected in 90 days, 60%. This incentivises sales agents to not only close deals but to follow up on collections — aligning their interests with the company's cash flow. Commission can also be paid on partial payments — if a customer pays 50% of the invoice, the agent earns commission on the 50% collected.
AutoCount Sales Commission Plugin Key Features
Commission Plan Maintenance
Create and maintain multiple commission plans with different calculation combinations. Each plan defines the commission method (by sales document or by item), the commission rate type (flat, document-based, item-based, or entitlement-tiered), and the payment collection rules. A company can have Plan A for senior agents (higher flat rate), Plan B for junior agents (lower rate with tiered bonuses), and Plan C for agents handling specific product lines (item-based rates). Each plan is a complete commission ruleset.
Sales Agent Commission Plan Assignment
Assign one or more commission plans to each sales agent. Each agent gets a personalised commission structure based on their role, seniority, territory, or product line. Agent A might be on Plan A (flat 5% on all sales). Agent B might be on Plan B (3% base with tiered bonuses at quarterly targets). Agent C might be on both Plan A and Plan C (flat rate on general sales plus item-specific rates on premium products). The plugin handles multiple concurrent plans per agent.
Automatic Commission Calculation
The plugin calculates commissions automatically using live sales data from AutoCount — invoices, credit notes, and AR payments. No manual data extraction. No spreadsheet formulas. No copy-paste from invoice reports. As invoices are posted and payments are received, the commission figures update. End-of-month commission processing takes minutes instead of hours.
Credit Note Deduction
When a Credit Note is issued against a previously invoiced sale, the commission is automatically deducted. If Agent A earned commission on a RM10,000 invoice and the customer returns RM2,000 worth of goods, the commission on that RM2,000 is reversed. No manual adjustment needed — the plugin handles returns and credit notes in the commission calculation automatically.
Item-Level Commission Control
Each invoice line item has a "Show In Comm. Report" checkbox. Uncheck this box to exclude specific items from commission calculation — internal charges, delivery fees, non-commissionable items, or promotional items sold at zero margin. This gives management granular control over which line items generate commission and which don't.
Tiered Entitlement Rates
Set commission rates that increase based on cumulative sales targets — monthly, quarterly, or annually. Agent sells RM50,000 in a month: 3% commission. Agent sells RM100,000: 4% commission. Agent sells RM200,000: 5% commission. The plugin tracks cumulative sales per agent per period and applies the correct tier automatically. This is the performance incentive structure that drives sales teams to exceed targets.
Sales Commission Report
Generate detailed commission reports showing each agent's sales, commission entitled (Formula 1), commission earned based on collection (Formula 2), and the resulting payout amount. Reports break down by agent, by period, by invoice, and by item. Print or export for payroll processing, management review, or agent transparency. Each agent can see exactly how their commission was calculated — building trust and reducing disputes.
Who Should Buy AutoCount Sales Commission Plugin?
Wholesale & Distribution Companies
Distributors with sales teams covering different territories, customer segments, or product lines. Commission structures are often complex — different rates for different products, tiered bonuses based on monthly targets, and collection-based incentives. The plugin handles all of this automatically from AutoCount's sales and payment data.
Trading Companies with Sales Agents
Trading businesses that pay commission to internal salesmen or external sales agents. Each agent may have a different rate structure. The plugin assigns personalised plans to each agent and calculates commissions from their tagged invoices.
Manufacturing Companies with Sales Teams
Manufacturers with direct sales forces selling to distributors, retailers, or end customers. Item-based commission rates let you set higher commission on high-margin products and lower commission on commodity items — incentivising agents to sell the products that matter most to profitability.
Service Companies with Revenue-Based Commissions
Insurance agencies, property agencies, recruitment firms, and professional service businesses that pay commission based on revenue generated per agent. The sales document method with flat or tiered rates handles percentage-of-revenue commission structures.
Any Business Paying Commissions from Spreadsheets
If your finance team currently calculates commissions in Excel — exporting invoice data, cross-referencing payment dates, applying different rates per agent, and handling credit note adjustments manually — this plugin replaces that entire process. The ROI is measured in hours saved per month and commission disputes eliminated.
