AutoCount Scale Barcode Plugin — Weighing Scale Barcode Reading for AutoCount Accounting Documents

AutoCount Scale Barcode Plugin is an AutoCount Accounting add-on that enables weighing scale barcode reading in AutoCount Accounting documents — Delivery Order (DO), Sales Invoice (SI), Cash Sales (CS), Goods Received Note (GRN), Stock Adjustment, and Stock Transfer. When a weighing scale prints a barcode label containing the item code and weight or price, scanning that barcode into an AutoCount document automatically extracts the embedded data — the correct item, quantity/weight, and unit price populate the document line item instantly. No manual entry of weight, no price lookup, no item selection. Designed for Malaysian fresh markets, supermarkets, bakeries, meat shops, produce wholesalers, and any business that sells or manages inventory by weight.

Why AutoCount Scale Barcode Plugin?

Businesses selling items by weight — fresh produce, meat, seafood, bakery products, bulk spices, hardware items sold per kg — use weighing scale devices that print barcode labels. These barcodes encode the item code and either the weight or the price directly in the barcode digits. AutoCount POS has built-in scale barcode support for point-of-sale transactions. But when you need to process the same weighing scale barcodes in Accounting documents — issuing a Delivery Order for a wholesale shipment, recording a Goods Received Note for incoming produce, or creating a Sales Invoice for a trade customer — standard AutoCount Accounting does not read scale barcodes. The Scale Barcode Plugin extends this capability from POS into Accounting documents.

Supported Documents

The plugin enables scale barcode reading in the following AutoCount Accounting documents:
✅ Delivery Order (DO)
✅ Sales Invoice (SI)
✅ Cash Sales (CS)
✅ Goods Received Note (GRN)
✅ Stock Adjustment
✅ Stock Transfer

AutoCount Scale Barcode Plugin Key Features

Automatic Barcode Data Extraction

Scan a weighing scale barcode and the plugin decodes the embedded information automatically — item code, weight or quantity, and unit price. The decoded data populates the document line item instantly. A barcode printed for 2.5kg of chicken breast at RM12.50/kg creates a line item with the correct item code, quantity of 2.5kg, unit price of RM12.50, and line total of RM31.25 — all from one scan. Zero manual data entry.

Configurable Barcode Format

Configure the scale barcode format to match your weighing scale device's output. Define the flag digit (prefix) that identifies scale barcodes from regular barcodes — typically "99" or a similar prefix code. Set the digit positions for item code, price, and weight within the barcode string. Configure the number of decimal places for price and weight fields. The plugin adapts to your scale's barcode format — whether 13-digit EAN-13 or 18-digit extended format.

Flag Digit / Prefix Identification

The flag digit (also called PLU code prefix) is a number at the start of the barcode that tells the system "this is a weighing scale barcode, not a regular product barcode." When the plugin detects the configured flag digit prefix, it processes the barcode as a scale barcode — extracting item code and weight/price from the digit positions you've defined. Regular product barcodes without the flag digit are processed normally as standard item lookups.

Price-Embedded vs Weight-Embedded Barcodes

The plugin supports both barcode formats used by weighing scales. Price-embedded barcodes contain the item code and the total price (the scale calculated price × weight and encoded the total). Weight-embedded barcodes contain the item code and the weight — the plugin then multiplies by the item's unit price in AutoCount to calculate the line total. Configure which format your scale uses and the plugin processes accordingly.

Direct Unit Price Update Option

When enabled, the transacted price from the scale barcode is taken as the unit price and the quantity is set to 1.00. This is used when the scale barcode encodes the total price for the weighed item rather than the weight. The invoice shows 1 unit at the total price rather than the weight × rate calculation. Configure based on how your business prefers to display weighed items on documents.

Seamless Document Entry

The scale barcode scanning integrates directly into the normal document entry workflow. Open a Delivery Order, scan the weighing scale barcode label, and the line item is added. Scan the next item. Continue scanning until all items are entered. Save the document. The process is identical to scanning regular barcodes — the plugin handles the scale barcode decoding transparently. Staff don't need special training beyond knowing which items use scale barcodes.

Who Should Buy AutoCount Scale Barcode Plugin?

Fresh Markets & Wet Market Suppliers

Fresh produce suppliers, fish mongers, and meat wholesalers that weigh items on scales, print barcode labels, and need to create Delivery Orders or Sales Invoices for trade customers. Scan the scale barcode from each weighed item directly into the DO or Invoice — no re-weighing at the invoicing stage, no manual weight entry.

Supermarkets & Grocery Stores

Supermarket operations that use weighing scales at the deli counter, bakery section, produce section, or butchery. While POS handles counter sales, the Scale Barcode Plugin handles back-office documents — GRNs for incoming weighed goods, Stock Adjustments for shrinkage, and Stock Transfers between locations.

Bakeries & Food Production

Bakeries and food producers that weigh ingredients and finished products. Scan scale barcodes into GRNs when receiving flour, sugar, and other bulk ingredients by weight. Scan into Stock Transfers when moving weighed items between production and storage. Scan into Sales Invoices when billing wholesale customers for weighed bakery products.

Wholesale Produce & Meat Distributors

Distributors supplying restaurants, hotels, and retailers with products sold by weight. Each delivery involves dozens of weighed items — each with a scale barcode label. Scan every label into the Delivery Order or Sales Invoice in seconds instead of manually entering item codes, weights, and prices for each line item.

Hardware & Building Material Suppliers

Businesses selling nails, screws, cables, chains, rods, sand, gravel, or any item weighed and sold per kg. Scan the scale barcode into the Sales Invoice or Cash Sales document — the weight and price populate from the barcode automatically.

Chemical & Industrial Supply Companies

Chemical suppliers, paint manufacturers, and industrial product companies that sell liquids, powders, or bulk materials by weight. Weigh the container, print the scale barcode, and scan it into the document — accurate weight-based billing without manual entry.

AutoCount Scale Barcode Plugin vs POS Scale Barcode

AutoCount POS has built-in scale barcode support for point-of-sale counter transactions — scanning weighed items at the checkout counter. The Scale Barcode Plugin extends scale barcode reading to AutoCount Accounting documents — DO, Sales Invoice, Cash Sales, GRN, Stock Adjustment, and Stock Transfer. If you only need scale barcodes at the POS counter, the built-in POS function is sufficient. If you need scale barcodes in back-office Accounting documents — for wholesale invoicing, goods receiving, stock management, or inter-branch transfers — you need this plugin.
